The 18m consortium meeting of the LIFEEBP project (LIFE Programme) was held on line last March 29th. The main progresses of the project were highlighted, in particular the production of the Bio soluble Products (BPs) and their performance in the agricultural field. The BPs have presented very promising improvements in the fertilization and lixiviations trials of lettuce, tomato and cress.
The hydrolysis process, producing the BPs, is being optimized by HYSYTECH and the construction of the final prototype is expected by the end of this year. In the next period, the BPs produced by ACEA Pinerolese Industriale will be supplied to the partners for trials in plastic, surfactants and agricultural field.
LIFE-EBP is a LIFE project focused on the valorisation of municipal biowastes (MBW) as feedstock to produce new biobased products (Bps) for agriculture and the chemical industry applications.
The project will develop a mobile prototype to process the necessary MBW for the validation in real operating conditions; it will take place in four different countries (Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus).
The LIFE-EBP product will be validated in different applications, such as soil fertilizers, plant biostimulants anti-pathogen agents, biopolymers to make plastics, surfactants to make detergents.
Based on the results achieved, the project team intends to establish join ventures among stakeholders in the sector of waste management, agriculture and chemical industry, to promote the industrialization of the BPs and their use in all EU countries.
